16-year-old arrested in Chicago carjacking

CHICAGO, IL – A 16-year-old male has been arrested after carjacking a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old woman in the 19th district.

Police said the teen was arrested on February 27, 2022 at 7:11 p.m. in the 100
block of W. 87th St. He was identified as one of the offenders who, approximately
30 minutes earlier, took a vehicle at gunpoint from a 56-year-old female in the 2600 block of N. Clybourn (19th District).

“Responding officers observed the offender inside the victim’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The offender attempted to flee on foot, but was placed into custody and subsequently charged accordingly,” the Chicago Police Department said.
