Local Fugitive Wanted in Connection to a Shooting Apprehended by U.S. Marshals Task Force

Martinsburg, WV
– On February 24, 2021, members of the U.S.
Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force arrested Darius Porter, of
Martinsburg, WV. Porter was wanted by the Berkeley County Sheriffs
Office on a Capias for wanton endangerment and aggravated assault with a
firearm. Darius Porter and his brother Demetri Porter were involved in a
shooting that occurred on May 28, 2020 in the Diesel Drive area of
Martinsburg, West Virginia.

The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task
Force developed information Porter was staying at a residence in the 100
block of Fishhook Lane in Hedgesville, WV. On February 24, 2021, the
Berkeley County SWAT Team executed a search warrant, on behalf of the
task force and after a brief standoff, Porter was found hiding in an
attic and taken into custody.

Porter is currently being held at the Eastern
Regional Jail. Porter’s brother, Demetri Porter is also wanted in
connection to the shooting. If anyone has information on the location of
Demetri Porter please contact the U.S. Marshals Service at (304)

“Having access to a state and local resources,
specifically the Berkeley County SWAT, is a force multiplier and their
on site management was a direct result of a safe apprehension” said
Acting U.S. Marshal Terry Moore.

The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task
Force consists of members from the West Virginia State Police,
Martinsburg Police Department, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Charles
Town Police Department, and Shepherdstown Police Department.
