Suffolk County Police Basketball Team Defeats Nassau County in Charity Game at Coliseum

UNIONDALE, NY – It was a match that had been put on hold for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but this weekend, the Suffolk County Police basketball team defended is title against the Nassau County basketball team.

The game, in its third year is intended to raise money for 9-1-1 Veterans of Long Island, but when the ball hits the court, it’s really all about bragging rights. This year, Suffolk County defeated Nassau County 63-43.

“It’s been a long two-year wait, but the Suffolk County Police basketball team was finally able to defend its bragging rights, taking down the Nassau County Police team with a decisive 63-43 victory at the Third Annual Charity Law Enforcement Basketball Game at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Sunday,” the PBA said today. “It was the third meeting of the two teams with Nassau winning the inaugural game in 2019 before Suffolk evened up the series with a win in 2020. The 2021 event was canceled due to the pandemic.”

The game raised $1000 for 9-1-1 Veterans of Long Island, a non-profit organization created by Suffolk County Police Officer Stephen Clark, who died from cancer in 2010. The organization is dedicated to assisting Long Island’s veterans by providing emergency financial assistance to those who have served, or are serving in the U.S. military.
