Task Force Arrets Sycamore Township Hotel Murder Suspect

Mason, OH
– U.S. Marshal Pete Tobin is pleased to announce
during the late-afternoon hours of January 5, 2021, the U.S. Marshals
Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested
fugitive Jay Harris on an outstanding warrant from Hamilton County for
two counts of Murder.

On November 1, 2019, Harris was allegedly
involved in a robbery at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Sycamore
Township. During the robbery a shootout occurred, and two male victims
were struck by gunfire. The victims succumbed to their wounds. Hamilton
County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators filed an arrest warrant for
Harris. The U.S. Marshals SOFAST in Cincinnati, OH, together with the
HCSO Fugitive Unit, developed information that Harris was in the 7800
block of Deer Crossing Drive in Mason, OH, and quickly arrested Harris
without incident.

Harris is currently in custody at the Hamilton
County Jail.

Sheriff’s Office, Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Butler County

Enforcement, Golf Manor Police Department, Harrison Police Department,
Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General, Warren
County Prosecutor’s Office, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the
Mount Orb Police Department.

U.S. Marshals are the nation’s primary fugitive
hunting organization and capture more federal fugitives each year than
all other law enforcement agencies combined.
