U.S. Marshals Arrest Bowdoinham Man on Child Pornography Charges

Portland, ME
– The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), announces the
arrest of Jasper Orne, 37, of Bowdoinham, Maine. Orne was wanted on a
warrant for possession of child pornography based on a criminal
complaint filed in U.S. District Court.

The United States Secret Service requested the
assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, in locating and apprehending
Orne. Orne was believed to be in or around the Bowdoinham, Maine area.

Through the collaborative investigative effort of
the Richmond Police Department, Sagadahoc Sheriff’s Office, and Maine
Drug Enforcement Agency, investigators developed information that Orne
was working in the Bowdoinham area where he was subsequently arrested
without incident by the U.S. Marshals Maine Violent Offender Task Force,
Richmond Police Department, Sagadahoc Sheriff’s Office and agents from
the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Orne will appear in federal court for
his initial appearance on federal charges.


This investigation was also assisted by the
United States Secret Service, Maine State Police, Lincoln County
Sheriff’s Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent
Offender Task Force. The U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender
Task Force is comprised of members of the Maine State Police, Maine
Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, and U.S. Customs
and Border Patrol.

A criminal complaint is merely an allegation and
all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a
reasonable doubt in a court of law.
