U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrest Fugitive Wanted for 2016 Murder

Dayton, OH
– The U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive
Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) with assistance of the Xenia Police
Division, Fairborn Police Department, Greene County Agencies for
Combined Enforcement (ACE) Drug Task Force, Greene County Prosecutor’s
Office, Middletown Division of Police, and Middletown Special Operations
Unit have arrested Devon Cox.

Cox was indicted and wanted by the Fairborn
Police Department in 2019 for events which allegedly transpired in
November 2016. Cox is charged with murder, aggravated burglary,
aggravated robbery, and felonious assault. During the afternoon hours of
February 11, 2022, and through a combined investigative effort, law
enforcement was led to the 1700 block of South Breiel Blvd in
Middletown, OH wherein Cox was taken into custody without incident. Cox
now awaits his court appearance for the above charges.

U.S. Marshals SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional
task force comprised of the Dayton Police Department, Ohio State Highway
Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Police Department,
Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, Miami County Sheriff’s Office,
Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, Ohio Adult Parole Authority,
Perry Township Police Department, Springboro Police Department, United
States Secret Service, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, West Carrollton
Police Department, and the Xenia Police Department. The U.S. Marshals
Service is the nation’s primary fugitive hunting organization and
captures more federal fugitives each year than all other law enforcement
agencies combined.
