U.S. Marshals Task Force Captures Memphis Murder Suspect

Memphis, TN
– U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the arrest
of Edwin Bailey for First Degree Murder.

On November 9, 2021,
Richard Varnadoe was shot to death at the 1600 block of Winston Street,
Memphis, Tennessee. A warrant for First Degree Murder for the arrest of
Edwin Bailey was issued that same day. The fugitive case was adopted by
the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Investigators with the Task Force developed information that Bailey had
fled to the Detroit, Michigan area. The Task Force coordinated with the
Detroit Marshals office and the fugitive was taken into custody earlier
today. The arrest was made without incident.

“This success was
achieved by our strong relationship with the Memphis Police Department,
as well as our peers in Detroit,” said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller.


The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a
multi-agency task force in the Western District of Tennessee with
offices in Memphis and Jackson. Its membership is composed of Deputy
U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police
Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers,
and Special Agents with the Tennessee Department of Correction. The
primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and
sexual predators.
