BARNEGAT, NJ – A road rage incident in Barnegat Township escalated between two men that ended with a crash and one of the vehicles overturned. Police said one of the victims later showed up and threw a brick at the car of the other driver involved.

According to a Barnegat Police Report, “On February 26th, officers responded to Bayshore Drive near Teal Street for a motor vehicle crash involving an overturned vehicle. Officers made contact with the drivers of both vehicles, Anthony Bornes, 23, of Jackson and Philip Grafje, 18, of Barnegat.”

That investigation determined that Bornes and Grafje were operating their respective vehicles in an aggressive manner in connection with prior altercations between them. That’s when things went from bad to worse.

“Later that evening, Bornes returned to Grafje’s residence and damaged Grafje’s parked vehicle with a brick. At the conclusion of the investigation by Officer Kris Burke and Officer Julie Palasits, Bornes was arrested and charged with assault by auto, terroristic threats, stalking, and criminal mischief,” the Barnegat Police Department said.

The department said, in addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to provide a driver’s license, and failure to provide insurance documents.

Police reported Grafje was arrested and charged with terroristic threats. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, reckless driving, and careless driving. Both subjects were released pending a court date.
