Dallas police investigating murder of homeless man on Hyde Street

DALLAS, TX – The Dallas Police Department is investigating a murder that took place Thursday afternoon at the park located on Hyde Street. Police were dispatched to the report of a shooting and upon arrival, they saw the victim, a white male that appeared to be in his 50s lying on the sidewalk suffering from several gunshot wounds to the chest.  Dallas Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. 

The suspect, an unknown white male approximately 30-years-old was seen by witnesses walk up to the victim and shoot him three times in the chest for an unknown reason,” Police said Thursday. “There was not an argument or confrontation that occurred prior to the shooting.  The witnesses followed the suspect several blocks before losing him in an alley.

Both individuals are homeless, the DPD said.   The victim’s identification is pending fingerprint analysis from the Dallas County Medical Examiner office.  Detectives are working with the homeless shelters to try to identify the suspect.
