Hackensack High School Evacuated, Everyone is Safe, Police Say

HACKENSACK, NJ – An ongoing police investigation of an unknown matter has forced the closure and evacuation of Hackensack High School today, police said.

Police issued the following statement, “Hackensack high school has been evacuated. Emergency responders are currently on scene. All other schools are sheltering in place. Everyone is safe. We repeat: Everyone is safe. More information will follow in approximately 30 minutes. Please do not report to any of the schools or evacuation sites until further notification This is an active police investigation and more information will be released soon.”

No other information was provided by police.


The Hackensack Fire Department just said, “Hackensack FD currently standing by In a support and command role at an ongoing incident at Hackensack high School. Currently the school is evacuated all children are safe at off-site locations.”

The Hackensack School District posted the following message, “Hackensack high school has been evacuated. Emergency responders are currently on scene. All other schools are sheltering in place. Everyone is safe. More information will follow in approximately 30 minutes.”

At 10:30 am, officials said students were being returned to class.
