EVESHAM, NJ – Evesham police have issued a statement today regarding an incident at the Route 70 Walmart, allegedly involving a gun during a dispute between two parties.

“[Saturday] at 4:08 PM, Evesham Police responded to Walmart, 150 East Route 70, for a report of a subject with a gun. Upon arrival, officers were provided with a description of the suspect and also learned that no witnesses had actually seen a gun,” the department said. “Officers who were circulating the area were able to locate and speak with the subject who was believed to possess the gun. During the investigation, it was determined that the subject was involved in a dispute with another customer inside the Walmart and witnesses saw him running after the other involved party with his hand in his pocket, which is why some witnesses believed he had a gun.”

The department, in a release said, an in-depth follow-up by officers and a detective confirmed that the suspect did not have or display a gun and that it was a misunderstanding. There is no active threat to the community or need for concern.
