Hey New Jersey, are you ready to spring ahead? This weekend is the time to change…your clocks

Jessica Woods

TOMS RIVER, NJ – As the weather warms and the days get longer, life at the Jersey Shore is about to spring back to life and this weekend, clocks at the shore will spring ahead.

This Sunday morning, at 2:00 am, time will ‘spring ahead’ and you’ll set your clock to 3:00 am. While you will lose an hour of sleep on Sunday, you’ll get to experience a later sunset each day forward as the days grow longer until June 21st.

Sunset this weekend at the shore is 5:56 pm. On Sunday, Sunset will be 7:02 pm, meaning longer days at the beach, boardwalk, and more importantly for many, longer practice days at the sports fields.

Daylight Savings Time was first created in 1908 in Thunder Bay, Canada as a means to add more daylight at the end of the day in the spring and summer and to lower energy costs.
