51 Year-Old Repeat Violent Offender Charged in the Shooting death of Baltimore Man

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – Baltimore Police Department Investigators have announced the arrest of repeated violent offender, Garrett Smith of Baltimore in the shooting death of 54 Year-Old Ahnmad Artis. The homicide took place on February 11th.

Garrett Smith was transported to Central Booking Intake where he was charged with 1st degree murder. The detectives believe the killing escalated from a dispute.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, “On February 11, 2022, at approximately 9:51 a.m., Western District patrol officers were dispatched to investigate a Shot Spotter alert and discovered an unidentified male victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1800 block of Ashburton Street. The victim was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and pronounced dead by medical personnel. Homicide investigators responded to the scene and assumed control over the investigation.”
