WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police said a traffic stop involving an armed robbery turned into an interstate pursuit after suspects fled police on their way to Pennsylvania.

According to the Delaware State Police, at approximately 5:56 p.m., on Monday, officers responded to King of Gold, located at 2201 Silverside Rd., for a reported armed robbery.

“The unknown suspect entered the business and demanded money while displaying a handgun before fleeing the business. No one was injured during the robbery and an undisclosed amount of money was obtained,” the DSP said in a statement. “On Wednesday, at approximately 4:27 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to Sunoco, located at 3615 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, for a robbery. During the incident, two male suspects entered the business and demanded money and merchandise while implying they had a weapon. The suspects then fled the business in an unknown direction of travel. No one was injured during the robbery and an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise was obtained.”

Later in the day Wednesday, at 2:05 p.m., officers reportedly responded to Acme, located at 2098 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, for two male suspects who entered the store and attempted to shoplift. When the suspects were confronted, one of the suspects struck the victim while the other implied he had a weapon before fleeing the area.

“As troopers were investigating the series of criminal complaints, a possible suspect vehicle and suspects were observed by troopers. Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the white Ford Escape at which time the vehicle fled into Pennsylvania. At that time, multiple suspects were taken into custody,” the DSP said in a statement. “We appreciate your patience and understanding, as detectives work hard to conduct a thorough investigation. This case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Once more becomes available, additional details will be released.”
