HOWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ – One person was reported dead after a multi-vehicle collision on Route 33, west of Colts Neck Road.

According to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey, on Friday, at approximately 12:05 a.m., a 2004 Ford F150 pickup, driven by a male driver of Jackson, was traveling westbound on Route 33, just west of Colts Neck Road crossing the intersection, when it crossed the centerline and collided with a 2004 Kia Rio, sideswiping the vehicle.

“The pickup then continued westbound, again in the eastbound lanes and collided in an offset head-on with a second vehicle, a 2010 Dodge Challenger, operated by a male driver, of Neptune Township,” Prosecutor Linskey said in a statement. “As a result of the second collision, the driver of the Challenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The pickup overturned and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. He is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.”

The female driver of the Kia Rio was uninjured in the crash. None of the drivers had any passengers in their vehicles.
