Trenton man shot dead on sidewalk, police investigating

TRENTON, NJ – The gun violence in the state capital continued Tuesday night after a man was found shot dead on a sidewalk on Camden Street.

Today, the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department announced they are investigating a Tuesday evening fatal shooting in Trenton.,

The incident is now being investigated by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri.


“At approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, Trenton police responded to a shooting call in the first block of Camden Street,” the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. “Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying on the sidewalk suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.  He was pronounced dead a short time later.”

  The victim has been identified as Albert L. Barnes, 46, of Trenton. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
