One Arrested After Police Find Gun, Weed During Routine Traffic Stop

HYATTSVILLE, MD – The driver of a vehicle involved in a routine traffic stop was arrested for drug and gun charges on Friday.

“Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Station, have arrested and charged 29-year-old Jermaine Robinson of Hyattsville for possessing a firearm and a controlled dangerous substance in his vehicle,” the MCPD said in a statement. “On Friday, March 25, 2022, at approximately 10:37 p.m., officers were patrolling the 3400 block of Gateshead Manor Way when they observed a white 2020 Jeep Compass committing a traffic violation. Officers then conducted a traffic stop on this vehicle.”

Officers approached the vehicle and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 50 grams of Marijuana and an FN Herstal 5.7x 28mm caliber handgun loaded with armor-piercing ammunition. Officers discovered that Robinson’s firearm was not registered, according to a statement by the department.


Robinson was arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and firearm-related charges.
