Asbury Park Smash and Grab Burglar Arrested

ASBURY PARK, NJ – A man who has been terrorizing local businesses with smash and grab style robberies, stealing as much as $1,000 in cash from some of the businesses, has been arrested. Police said 23-year-old Derek Charpentier was arrested and charged along with a female companion after being identified through security surveillance cameras.

Charpentier was arrested Friday morning near the intersection of Springwood Avenue and Memorial Drive. He is facing multiple counts of theft and burglary. Both Charpentier and his female companion, whose name was not released were also charged with drug violations.
