Mass Shooting in Downtown Sacramento 6 Dead, 15 Shot After Tyler the Creator Concert

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Police Department continues investigating a mass shooting downtown. At this point, police have confirmed 15 victims, including six dead.

“9th St to 13th St is closed between L St & J St as officers investigate a shooting with multiple victims. Conditions unknown at this time. Please avoid the area as a large police presence will remain and the scene remains active,” the department said at 3:52 am.

The early morning shooting took place in a crowded area at around 2 am when patrolling police officers heard multiple gunshots, according to Police Chief Kathy Lester.

Lester called the incident a “tragic situation”.


According to video that captured the sounds of the shooting, it appears multiple different weapons were used.


The incident happened after a concert at the nearby Golden 1 Center by Tyler the Creator. It is not certain whether or not the victims had attended the concert just blocks away at this time. The shooting took place near London, a nightclub at 1009 10th Street.
