CUMBERLAND COUNTY, MD – The Cumberland Police Department has issued the following arrest reports taken between April 1 and April 3. Please, note, all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The data in the report is published below:

ARREST WARRANT SERVED

On Friday, April 1, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Kathryn Jefferys. The warrant was issued as a result of an incident that occurred on March 27, 2022. On this date at approximately 11:30 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a facility on Willowbrook Rd. regarding a CDS complaint. Upon their arrival, they contacted the staff who reported that Jefferys had been in possession of suspected illegal drugs. After further investigation, the drugs were seized and an application for charges against Jefferys was submitted to the District Court and an arrest warrant was issued. Jefferys was arrested and transported to Central Booking. She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center, held on a $5,000 bond.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on James Patterson Jr. The criminal summons was issued as a result of a private citizen filing for charges against Patterson at the District Court of Allegany County. Patterson was released pending trial.

TRESPASSING ARREST

On Saturday, April 2, 2022, at approximately 8:47 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department was on patrol in the area of Henderson Avenue when he observed a female, later identified as Jessica Miller, walking on CSX Property which is posted “No Trespassing.” Miller was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial.

Monday, April 4, 2022

ROBBERY ARREST

On Sunday, April 3, 2022, at approximately 2:17 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Fayette Street at N. Lee Street to check on the well-being of a subject lying in the roadway. Upon their arrival, they located the subject and observed that he had visible injuries. It was discovered that the subject was a victim of a strong-arm robbery. The suspect stole currency and property from the victim. During the course of the investigation, police were able to locate the suspect and identify him as Randy Nelson Jr. Nelson was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. Nelson was then taken to Central Booking. Nelson was seen by a District Court Commissioner who released him on a $10,000 unsecured personal bond.

ARRESTED: Randy Jay Nelson Jr. AGE: 29 Cumberland, MD
CHARGES: Robbery, Assault-2nd Degree, Theft less than $100

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER ARREST

On Sunday, April 3, 2022, at approximately 12:46 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 600 block of Princeton Street for a disturbance. Upon officers’ arrival, they contacted the resident who advised that Aaron Soules was at the residence. It was known to police that the resident had a Protective Order against Soules and he was not allowed to be there. While speaking with the resident, Soules ran out of the rear of the residence. Officers ordered Soules to stop and he continued to flee on foot, attracting the attention of multiple neighbors in the area. Officers were able to take Soules into custody after a brief foot chase. Soules was transported to the police station for processing and then taken to Central Booking. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner who remanded him to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $1,000 bond.

CHARGES: Violation of Final Protective Order, Disorderly Conduct

TRESPASSING ARREST

On Sunday, April 3, 2022, at approximately 10:30 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department were conducting a foot patrol in the area of Canal Place when they observed Jeffery Wahl and Crystal Athey walk onto the train bridge that connects Cumberland, MD to Ridgely, WV. The bridge is posted “No Trespassing.” Wahl and Athey were issued criminal citations and released pending trial.
