SOUTHAMPTON, NY – A seal pup on the loose in the streets of Southampton, New York, this weekend was just looking for her way back home. Unfortunately, it didn’t have a smartphone with Google Maps on it.

“Earlier today, Southampton Town 911 dispatchers received a call about a seal in the roadway at the traffic circle in Riverside,” the Southampton Police reported on Sunday. “Some of our officers responded and found a baby harbor seal in the roadway near the Budget Host Inn. Our officers were able to detain the seal until the seal was taken into custody by the Riverhead Foundation.”

The seal pup made its way out of the water by climbing up the fish ladder and making its way across the street. The seal was eventually turned over to the custody of the New York Marine Rescue Center for observation before being released back into the water.
