Suspect in December Syracuse Murder of Shakeale Hill Captured by Police

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Police Department today reported they have arrested and charged a suspect in the December murder of 29-year-old Shakeale Hill.

On December 18th, 2021, at around 10:15 P.M.: Syracuse Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of W. Colvin Street in regards to a shooting with injuries call. Upon arrival, Officers located a shooting victim, Shakeale Hill (11/23/92). It was evident that he had been shot. Hill was subsequently transported to Upstate Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

During the department’s investigation, detectives interviewed several individuals and determined the shooting suspect was Jaquell Bailey, 31 of Syracuse.

On March 31st, Bailey was located in the 300 block of South Avenue, where he was taken into custody by SPD Homicide Unit detectives without incident. He was later lodged in the Onondaga County Justice Center.


Bailey was charged with murder.
