Yonkers Fugitive Wanted for Murder Captured in North Carolina

YONKERS, NY – He shot and killed Chazz Mitchell back in August of 2020 in Yonkers, but today, Jerome Wilson is in police custody after being captured as a fugitive on the run in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office announced Wilson’sarrest for the August 2020 Oak Street shooting of Chazz Mitchell.

“Yonkers Police Detectives working together with the FBI’s Westchester Safe Streets Task Force and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) tracked Wilson to a residence in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was placed into custody without incident,” the D.A.’s office said today. “Wilson faces murder charges in the shooting death of Chazz Mitchell that took place on August 25th, 2020, in front of 63 Oak Street. A monetary reward was offered for information leading to his arrest.”


Wilson remains in custody in North Carolina pending extradition proceedings.
