EAGLE PASS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector’s Eagle Pass Station encountered a large group of migrants after they illegally entered the United States, just before midnight, April 6.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., an Autonomous Surveillance Tower (AST) in Normandy detected the group in Eagle Pass’s area of responsibility. Agents responded and encountered a group of 171 migrants. The group included 112 individuals from Cuba, 24 from Venezuela, 18 from Columbia, 13 from Peru, three from Nicaragua and one from Chile. A more comprehensive breakdown of the group highlights 74 single adult males and 19 family units and included one unaccompanied minor child.
During the current fiscal year, beginning Oct. 1, 2021, through February, Del Rio Sector agents have encountered 153,271 migrants.
All subjects were transported to the Eagle Pass South station for processing and are processed in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection policies.
