CLARKSBURG, MD – The Clarksburg High School and Rocky Hill Middle School were both placed on lockdown after a juvenile allegedly brandished a handgun one block away from the Rocky Hill Middle School during an altercation.

Police said one juvenile male was placed into police custody.

“On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at approximately 10:18 a.m., the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a call from a resident stating that an individual displayed a handgun following a parking dispute in the 22400 block of Brick Haven Way. The individual with the handgun reportedly fled the location on foot, in the direction of Clarksburg High School,” the Montgomery County Police Department said. “Montgomery County Department of Police 5th District officers responded to the location and as a result of the initial report for a person with a handgun, Clarksburg High School, Rocky Hill Middle School and the Goddard School, were all placed on lockdown at approximately 10:35 a.m.”

According to report released by the department, during the course of the investigation, Montgomery County Police were able to identify and locate the individual at his residence, and at 11:04 a.m., he was taken into custody and transported to the 5th District station to be interviewed. Detectives learned that the juvenile suspect is a student at Clarksburg High School and that the suspect had entered the school following the confrontation on Brick Haven Way, but eventually left the campus.

The schools remained on lockdown to allow K-9 officers to search both the interior and exterior of the campus for a firearm. At this time, no weapon has been recovered.
