Man Wanted for Warrant Fled, Fought Police

BURLINGTON CITY, NJ – Burlington Police officers on patrol spotted a man wanted on an open bench warrant. As the police moved in, he fled.

According to police, on Saturday, at approximately 5:50 PM, Burlington City Police Patrols observed a subject in the area of East Federal St. and Lawrence St. who had an active warrant for his arrest as a result of a domestic violence incident.

“Upon observing police, the subject immediately fled on foot. Officers gave him numerous commands to stop and that he was under arrest, however, he continued to flee,” the department said. “After a brief foot pursuit officers were able to apprehend him, he continued to physically resist and fight officers until being taken into custody. During this, one officer sustained a wrist injury that required medical attention at a local hospital. The officer continues to be treated for the injury.”

Korey Williams, age 38 of Burlington City was subsequently charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Administration of Law and Hindering His Own Apprehension. Williams was lodged in the Burlington County Detention Facility.
