Hillside, NJ – The following events were reported by the Hillside Police Department in connection with crimes carried out throughout the community. The following police blotter entries are provided as-is, without editing from the department, to ensure accuracy.

April 3

Officers Galvao and Thomas arrested Terry Vincent for an outstanding traffic warrant during a motor vehicle stop on Central Avenue. Mr. Vincent was issued four traffic summonses and released on his own recognizance.2. Date & Time: 4/4/22 at 8:14pm
Arrested: Alnesah Lane, 49, Newark
Charges: Warrant Arrest


Officer Medina arrested Alnesah for an outstanding warrant. Ms. Lane was transported to the Union County Jail.

April 6

While patrolling the area of 36 Hillside (Walgreens), an employee flagged down Officer Rivas-Difo to report a male that had shoplifted and left the store. Officers canvassing the area observed and stopped a male, later identified as Dion Montgomery, fitting the description of suspect. Mr. Montgomery was found in possession of the shoplifted items. He was arrested and charged with Shoplifting on a complaint summons. He was also found to have outstanding warrants. Mr. Montgomery was released on his own recognizance with a Municipal Court appearance date.

April 7

Officers Coral and Wilson arrested Shanice Rickards for an outstanding traffic warrant during a motor vehicle stop on Liberty Avenue. Ms. Rickards was issued three traffic summonses and released on her own recognizance.

April 8

Officer Nascimento arrested Ijana Summers for outstanding traffic warrants during a motor vehicle stop on Maple Avenue. Ms. Summers was released on her own recognizance.

April 10

Officers responded to the area of 36 Hillside (Walgreens) on a report of a male that shoplifted and left the store. Officers canvassing the area observed and stopped a male, later identified as Freddie Staggs, fitting the description of suspect. Mr. Staggs was found in possession of the shoplifted items. He was arrested and charged with Shoplifting on a complaint summons. Mr. Staggs was released with a Superior Court appearance date.

Officer Henn arrested Roderick Jackson for an outstanding traffic warrant during a motor vehicle stop on Liberty Avenue. Mr. Jackson was released on his own recognizance.8. Date & Time: 4/11/22 at 9:18pm.

Arrested: Roderick Jackson, 48, Newark
Charges: Warrant Arrest

Officers responded to 1090 N. Broad St. (Dollar General) on a call of a male who had shoplifted and left the store. While canvassing the area, officers observed and stopped a male, later identified as Aaron Fleming, fitting the description of suspect. Mr. Fleming was found in possession of the shoplifted items as well as a glass pipe commonly used to inhale CDS. He was arrested and charged with Shoplifting and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on a complaint summons. He was also found to have outstanding criminal warrants. Mr. Fleming was released on his own recognizance with a Municipal Court appearance date.
