MAPLE SHADE, NJ – A fight between roommates at the Fox Meadow Apartment Complex ended with one of those roommates dead from a gunshot wound to the face.

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Maple Shade Police Chief Christopher J. Fletcher announced that one man is dead and another is in critical condition following an early morning shooting at the Fox Meadow Apartment Complex off of Route 73 in Maple Shade.

“The investigation began after officers from the Maple Shade Police Department were called to the first block of Laurel Drive at 3:30 a.m. today for a report of a shooting,” investigators said. “Upon arrival they found a 26-year-old man outside who had been shot in the face. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he underwent emergency surgery and is listed in critical but stable condition.”

Near the entrance to one of the units, officers discovered Maurice Kobassic, 27, who was deceased. An autopsy will be performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood, the BCPO said.

The victims shared a residence in the complex. The motive for the shooting continues to be investigated. No arrests have been made at this time.
