MARLBORO, NJ – Newark car thieves on the hunt for a good steal at the Jersey Shore were captured in Marlboro and their vehicle was impounded. It was a long walk back home to the city for them.

While most New Jerseyans were celebrating the holidays of Easter, Passover and Ramadan this weekend, four Newark car thieves were celebrating, hoping people’s guards were down for the holidays.

At approximately 3 am Sunday morning, residents in The Woods Development dialed 911 and reported unknown subjects who were attempting to gain access to a vehicle.

“The vehicle was locked and entry could not be gained. The subjects fled the area and were located a short time later by Sgt. David Taglietta,” the Marlboro Police Department said. “After an investigation, the four occupants in the vehicle, all residents of Newark, were placed under arrest and criminal charges were lodged against them. Their vehicle was impounded and the investigation is continuing with the assistance of our Detective Bureau.”
