Man Shouting Racial Slurs Attacked Victim While Police Were On Scene

CUMBERLAND, MD – A man engaged in a scuffle with another began shouting racial slurs at police before attacking his victim while police were present.

According to the Cumberland Police Department, on Saturday, officers responded to the 200 block of Decatur Street for the report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, Officers observed two subjects actively involved in a physical altercation.

“Officers separated the individuals and began to investigate the incident at hand. At this time, one of the subjects, Jason Dillon Roager, began to scream racial epithets and threats of violence towards officers and the other subject involved,” the department said in a police report. “Roager then attempted to charge by officers and attack the other individual involved for a second time. At this time, Roager was placed under arrest and transported to Police headquarters for processing.”


Roager was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.
