Laredo, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol culminated the Youth of the Month Program by announcing the April and May 2022 honorees with a virtual ceremony.

Laredo Sector held the ceremony on April 21, 2022, in partnership with community partners, educators, and honoree families. Collectively, everyone came together to celebrate the incredible achievements and accomplishments of all 22 honorees, comprised of seniors from Laredo area high schools.

Dr. Marcus Wong, a 2009 graduate of Alexander High School and Youth of the Year, is currently a Neurosurgery resident physician at Houston Methodist, told the students, “You can do anything you want. You are one of the Youths of the Month. They always say cream gets thicker as it rises to the top. Well, you are already the cream! He also offered the honorees assistance with further wisdom and mentoring after today by giving them his contact information.

Closing remarks were given by Main Event Sales Manager Jackie Jimenez, a Youth of the Month/Year partner, who congratulated the honorees and reminded them to be proud of themselves for this honor. She also told the honorees to be confident and wished them good luck in their future endeavors.

Through the Laredo Sector Border Patrol Youth of the Month program, in partnership with educators and community partners, we have recognized Laredo’s top high school seniors for 35 years.  At the end of the school year, 11 Youth of the Month recipients are considered for the prestigious Border Patrol Youth of the Year award that is awarded in May.  Laredo Sector Border Patrol congratulates all of the honorees.
