NEW YORK CITY, NY – 10-year-old Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel has been sworn in as a police officer at his 387th agency, the New York City Police Department. In January, DJ broke his goal of 100 departments. Hailing from Texas, DJ now has hundreds of offers from around the country from police departments wanting to make him an honorary member.

“This week, State Troopers in NYC had the honor of celebrating 10-year-old DJ being sworn in by the NYPD as a part of his goal to take the oath for 100 police departments in 6 months. And guess what? DJ surpassed his goal with the NYPD coming in at number 387,” the NYPD said. “DJ, who is battling cancer, spent time with several Troopers and he got to check out one of our cool troop cars. Thank you, DJ, for an unforgettable day and NYSP is right beside you in your fight, you’ve got this!”
