Dover Industrial Copper Thieves Identified After Police Investigation

DOVER, DE – A man who robbed a construction site of $20,000 in copper wiring is being sought by police after detective work helped the Delaware Police identify the suspect.

Delaware State Police have arrested 30-year-old Christian O’Leary of Lewes, DE for burglary and related charges following an investigation that began on Wednesday morning. A second suspect remains at-large.

“On April 20th, 2022 at approximately 6:00 a.m., troopers responded to the Ernest DiSabatino and Sons construction site located on W. Big Woods Road in Dover, DE regarding a burglary complaint. The ensuing investigation revealed that two subjects had broken a lock at the front gate of the site and loaded a pickup truck with approximately $20,000 worth of copper wiring,” the Delaware State Police said. “The suspects caused damage to surrounding equipment before departing from the area. Through investigative means it was determined that the two suspects were Christian O’Leary and 34-year-old Jacob Steele of Dover, DE.”


On April 21st, 2022, O’Leary turned himself in to Troop 7. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on $5,500 unsecured bond. Steele has yet to be located and remains at-large.
