Harford County Deputies Shot Suicidal Subject Armed with Rifle

FOREST HILL, MD – The Harford County Sheriff’s Department has reported an officer involved shooting of a male subject armed with a gun, showing suicidal tendencies.

According to Sheriff Gahler, deputies from to the Northern Precinct were involved in a shooting in the shopping center at the corner of Rock Spring Road near Spenceola.

“At approx. 2:44 pm, this afternoon, deputies were dispatched on a call for a suicidal subject, who was believed to be armed with a long gun,” Sheriff Gahler said. “After searching for nearly an hour and phones conversations with the adult male, the individual was located behind the CVS in Forest Hill. The interaction concluded with the deputies’ discharging their firearms.”


Police reported that no deputies were injured and there is no additional threat to community safety.

” The adult male was transported to a local hospital and has since died of his injuries.At this time, investigators are on the scene, and this remains an active investigation, members of the community can expect police activity to continue for several hours,” Sheriff Gahler added. “Two Deputies have been placed on routine administrative leave.”
