Baltimore Police Roll Out New High Tech Hybrid Police Fleet

Phil Stilton

BALTIMORE, MD – The Baltimore Police Department has publicly unveiled its new hybrid fleet of high-tech patrol vehicles for 2022. These vehicles provide officers with more safety and workflow improvements over older vehicles in service.

The BPD’s latest patrol fleet features 168 vehicles. This helps the Department meet 21st Century policing challenges. Officers are able to work more efficiently in a professional and safe environment with increased visibility in the community. These hybrid vehicles also save on repair and fuel costs.

Baltimore Police Department Sgt. Craig Taylor noted officers on the beat gave his fleet department valuable feedback on how to better design the vehicle, including safety features for officers such as external locking seatbelts so the officer does not have to stick his body into the car to secure a suspect.
