MIDDLETOWN, DE – A man and woman were arrested and charged with property and drug charges following a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Monday afternoon in the Middletown area.

According to police, on Monday, at approximately 3:50 p.m., troopers responded to northbound Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway (Delaware Route 1) in the area of Drawyers Creek in Middletown, DE, regarding a motor vehicle accident.

“Prior to the trooper’s arrival, the operator and passenger of a silver Hyundai Elantra that had been involved in the collision had fled the scene on foot. Driver Danieve Harper, 39, of Middletown, DE and passenger Tenah Parris, 30, of Penns Grove, NJ, were located a short distance away on North Dupont Parkway,” the Delaware State Police said. “Both Harper and Parris were taken into custody without incident. A search of Harper revealed that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia, and a search of Parris led to the discovery of approximately 2.47 grams of methamphetamine, approximately .04 grams of cocaine, approximately 0.063 grams of suspected heroin, and drug paraphernalia.”

A computer inquiry of the Elantra revealed that it had been reported stolen by Delaware State Police Troop 9 in October 2021.
