Suspect in New Castle Motel Stabbing Murder Arrested

NEW CASTLE, DE – The suspect wanted for a stabbing murder at a New Castle motel has been arrested and charged with first degree murder and weapons charges.

Back on April 10, at approximately 2:42 p.m., Delaware State Troopers responded to The Super Lodge located at 1213 West Avenue, New Castle, for a reported stabbing.

“Responding troopers found the victim, Michael White, 45, of New Castle, outside the motel suffering from an apparent stab wound to his upper torso area. He was transported to an area hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased,” the DSP said at the time. “Through investigative measures, Frank Deshields, 52, of New Castle, was established as a suspect in this homicide. On April 11, 2022, an arrest warrant was obtained for Deshields for Murder First Degree and weapon charges.”


On Thursday, Deshields was arrested without incident by the USMS First State Fugitive Task Force at a residence in the 500 block of E. Williams Street, Salisbury, MD.

Deshields was transported to the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack where he was charged as a Fugitive of Justice. Deshields is being held at the Wicomico County Corrections Center pending extradition to Delaware, according to a press release by the DSP.
