Syracuse Police Continue Offroad Vehicle Crackdown, Six More Seized

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Police Department has seized six more unregistered offroad vehicles as a part of a month-long crackdown against illegal riding activities. Those activities have become a nuisance for residents across the city.

“Recently, the Syracuse Police Department, along with the assistance of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, Air One, conducted another proactive ATV/Dirt Bike detail,” the Syracuse Police Department said. “Illegally driven ATVs are one of the biggest complaints we receive from our residents. They are driven recklessly and put people at risk. In this most recent detail, two local law arrests were made, 13 tickets were issued, and 6 ATVs were towed from City streets.”

Those ticketed will face fines in court and the towed dirt bikes will require a 2000.00 redemption fee to be paid before being returned to the owner, police said.

“We hear you, Syracuse, we will continue to crack down on this problem,” the department said. “Please send the known resting location of illegal ATV/ Dirtbikes complaints to Sgt. Blake at tblake@syracusepolice.org.”
