New York State Police Seeking to Find Fugitive Child Predator Released on Bail, Fleeing Country

KINGSTON, NY – A New York man charged with sexual assault against a child and other heinous crimes may be heading to Puerto Rico after being released due to bail reform laws. The New York State Police said Luis D. Fernandez, 46, of Kingston, NY. Fernandez failed to appear in the Greene County Court

“The New York State Police in Catskill are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Luis D. Fernandez, 46, of Kingston, NY,” the New York State Police said in a statement. “Fernandez failed to appear in the Greene County Court after being released on bail and is wanted for multiple felony charges including Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, an A Felony, Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the first degree, a B Felony, and four counts of Rape in the first degree, a B Felony.”

Police suspect Fernandez may be attempting to flee to Puerto Rico. Fernandez is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs approximately 195 pounds. He is also wanted by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. Any information regarding Fernandez’s location should be forwarded to SP Catskill at (518) 622-8600. Information will be kept confidential if requested.
