UTICA, NY – A Utica man was arrested and charged for armed robbery after police were summoned on Sunday to the 1000 block of Kossuth Avenue at around 2:30 am.

According to police, the victim stated that a party whom he knows to be Christopher Xuereb, 32, entered his vehicle and began to demand money from the victim. The victim stated that Xuereb then displayed a handgun and threatened him with it; also, he ordered the victim to empty his pockets.

“The victim then removed the property from his pockets, and Xuereb took cash from the victim’s hand. Following this he exited the vehicle, entered another awaiting vehicle, and drove from the scene,” police said in a report released Monday. “The victim provided a description of the vehicle, and officers located it on the Parkway near Clementian St. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the vehicle fled and led the officers on a pursuit until it was ended due to safety concerns.”

A police report published yesterday shows approximately an hour later other officers located the vehicle on Mohawk Street and again initiated a traffic stop.

“This time, the vehicle pulled over and officers learned it to be occupied by Xuereb and a male driver. Both parties were detained, the driver due to having a suspended NYS license, and were transported to the Utica Police Department,” the Utica Police Department reported. “At approximately 0830hrs officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Clementian St regarding a found handgun. This item was collected and is being processed to determine any relevancy to the original crime.”
