Utica Man Turned Himself In After Stealing Wallet from Walmart Shopping Cart

UTICA, NY – A Utica man turned himself into police after he became the lead suspect in an investigation into a stolen wallet incident in January at the North Utica Walmart.

According to police, on January 20th, officers were informed of a grand larceny investigation relating a victim leaving their wallet in a shopping cart at the North Utica Walmart.

“The wallet contained cash and credit cards.Upon obtaining surveillance footage of a male taking the wallet from the cart, the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center sent still shots to local Police agencies, and a member of the New York State Police recognized the male from prior police interactions,” police said.


This information was subsequently relayed to the Utica Police Department investigator assigned to the case, and on May 2nd, 2022 the suspect, Gordon Williams age 65 of Remsen turned himself in and was charged with grand larceny.
