Erratic Driver Had Gun, Police Said After Traffic Stop

HANOVER, MD – On May 2, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of the Buffalo Wild Wings in the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover for a report of a possible armed subject with a handgun. The caller reported a black male subject was acting erratic and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, and had a firearm inside of the waistband of his pants. Responding officers located the individual near the Arundel Mills Mall entrance.

When approached by officers, the subject fled into the mall on foot. As the subject fled, officers observed him retrieve what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and discard it. After a brief foot pursuit, the subject was taken into custody without further incident. Further investigation revealed that the handgun discarded by the subject was a replica Sig Sauer 365 air pistol. The subject was arrested and charged accordingly.
