Mount Vernon Traffic Stop Leads to Drugs, Gun

MOUNT VERNON, NY – A traffic stop conducted by the Mount Vernon Police Department on Tuesday at around midnight led police to find a gun and drugs packaged for distribution.

Police said during their stop, after interacting with the occupants of the vehicle, had developed probable cause to search the vehicle.

“Upon doing so officers located quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cannabis, drug equipment, drug packaging items, and a loaded 9mm handgun. Three occupants in the vehicle were taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center,” police said. “Detectives from the Mt Vernon Police Department / Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit were called upon to assist patrol with the investigation.”


Police arrested 20-year-old Guy G. Twiggs on charges of Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of 5-15 Grams of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Equipment; and 28-year-old Tyler J Williams on charges of Possession of 5-15 Grams of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Deliver 1-15 Grams, and Possession of Drug Equipment.
