Asbury Park Couple Charged for Dealing Crack in at the Jersey Shore

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ – Two Asbury Park residents were charged after they were pulled over by Ocean Township Police on numerous charges including intent to distribute crack and heroin.

Shamere J. McClaren 35-year-old male; and Beverly Bell 55-year-old female, both of Asbury Park, were arrested on Tuesday at around midnight by Ocean Township Police Officer Dane Richards.

Police said Richards conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 35 South in the area of East Mall Drive for traffic violations. 


“During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Shamere J. McClaren, was found to be in possession of crack cocaine,” the Ocean Township Police Department said in a police report. “McClaren was immediately placed under arrest for possession of CDS.  Officers Bones, Deceglie and Sergeant Orbach arrived on location to assist.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and revealed several wax folds containing heroin and several pieces of drug paraphernalia.  The passenger of the vehicle, Beverly Bell, was also placed under arrest.  Both subjects were transported to HQ for processing.”

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Shamere J. McClaren was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses.  Beverly Bell was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  She was also issued two motor vehicle summonses.  They were both released pending an initial court appearance.
