Teen Fled From Police After Harassing Passerby in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Pittsburgh Police Department successfully arrested a 19-year-old male after he brandish a gun at a passerby. Nearby police officers spotted him and initiated an arrest, but the suspect fled. Police were able to arrest him a short time later without incident.

“Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on May 1, Zone 3 officers Zachary Young, Dan Halaszynski, Garrett Bellis, and Patrick Rooney responded to reports of a man brandishing a firearm and becoming confrontational with passersby on E. Carson Street,” the PPD said in a report. “After locating the suspect in the 1700 block of E. Carson, the man noticed officers and grabbed at his waistband as though he was holding a heavy object. Officers gave him several verbal commands to stop, but he did not comply.”

The suspect then fled on foot and officers chased him as he ran in between houses around Fox Way. When he emerged from in between houses on Sidney Street, officers gave him verbal commands to lay on the ground, to which he complied.


Police recovered a stolen firearm on his person and a discarded magazine with several rounds.

Dayqual Allen, 19, of Pittsburgh, was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Persons not to Possess, Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License, Disorderly Conduct, Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Trial or Punishment, and Public Drunkenness.
