Woman Found Shot Inside Car in Duquesne, Robbed of Legally Owned Gun

DUQUESNE, PA – A woman was found shot and bleeding inside her car on North 3rd Street in Duquense shortly after midnight on Wednesday, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.

At 12:36 a.m., Duquesne Police were dispatched to the 100 block of North 3rd Street for a report of a female that had been shot. The adult female victim was found inside a vehicle in the block suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower extremities.

Police said the victim was transported to an area hospital by ambulance in serious, but stable condition.


“The Duquesne Police Department requested the investigative assistance of the Allegheny County Police General Investigations Unit. Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation,” according to a report published today by the ACPD. “The assistance of the Allegheny County Police SWAT Team was also requested by Duquesne to assist with clearing a residence near the shooting. The suspect was not found upon clearing the residence.”

“The investigation revealed that the female victim was also robbed of a legal firearm and US currency after being shot. Detectives determined that Glenn Smith, 36, of Duquesne is the person responsible for the shooting and robbery. After consulting with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, an arrest warrant has been issued this evening for Glenn Smith,” police said. “Smith has been charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, two counts of persons not to possess firearms, and two counts of carrying a firearm without a license. County Police are asking for assistance from the public in locating Glenn Smith. If seen, do not approach and call 9-1-1.”

Smith is a black male, approximately 140 pounds, 5’8”, thin build, and goatee. He is known to frequent the McKeesport area.
