Police Arrest Suspect Who Stole Box Truck from Delaware DOT Lot

GEORGETOWN, DE – In A brazen daylight robbery, the Delaware State Police today said Alfred Woodward, 37, of Newark, was arrested and charged for theft of a motor vehicle and related charges following the theft.

Police said on Thursday morning at approximately 11:46 a.m., Troopers responded to the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) located at 23697 Dupont Boulevard, Georgetown, for a reported theft of a motor vehicle.

“The investigation revealed that a Penske Rental truck was stolen from the parking lot of DelDOT by a male suspect, later identified as Alfred Woodward. Through investigative efforts, the Dover Police Department located the stolen vehicle, parked on South Governor’s Avenue with Woodward still occupying the vehicle,” the Delaware State Police said. “He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3, where he was charged with felony motor vehicle theft and criminal trespass.

Woodward was arraigned by Justice of Peace Court # 2 and released on his own recognizance.
