Newark Police Seeking to Identify Suspect Wanted in Thursday Robbery

NEWARK, NJ – Police in Newark are asking the public to help them identify a man who was suspected for robbing a gold chain and iPhone from a victim in the area of 700 Broadway on Thursday.

Newark Director of Public Safety Brian O’Hara said that at approximately 3:05 p.m., a man in the area of 700 Broadway was approached from behind by the suspect, who snatched a gold chain from the victim’s neck.

“The suspect also took the victim’s cell phone before fleeing in a gray Volkswagen Tiguan.Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect as part of their investigation,” Director O’Hara said. “He is described as 6-ft. tall with a light-brown complexion. He was wearing a white t-shirt, tan pants, and black and white sneakers.”
