JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Police in Jackson are reporting a Mother’s Day crime spree by four black males wearing ski masks driving a blue Audi, presumably stolen.
According to police, on Sunday, at 5:28 am Police Officer Andrew Kalash responded to the Quick Chek located on Leesville Road on the report of the theft of gas. The suspect vehicle was described as a blue Audi with no license plates.
“Enroute to the location, Officer Kalash observed the suspect vehicle on Freehold Road turning onto Kingfisher Court. As the officer turned onto Kingfisher Court, the suspect vehicle turned around and fled the area at a high rate of speed before the officer could close the distance to it,” the Jackson Police Department said in a statement. “The vehicle was observed a short time later by another officer on Cassville Road traveling at speeds in excess of 80 mph and crossed into Millstone before that officer could safely close the distance to catch up to the vehicle.”
Jackson Police Captain Steven Laskiewicz says it is suspected that this vehicle was the same one that was involved in an earlier incident in Manalapan on Monmouth Road (Rt. 537).
“At 4:02 am, Jackson Police headquarters was advised that Manalapan Police had attempted to stop a blue four door vehicle with four occupants. The vehicle was described to have had no license plate and was last observed traveling with no headlights on westbound, possibly toward Jackson,” Laskiewicz said in a report. “Officer Kalash then responded to the Quick Chek and spoke with the employee reporting the theft. It was reported that a blue Audi with no license plates pulled up to the pumps and driver asked for $40.00 of gas. The Audi was reportedly occupied by 4 black males who were described to have all been wearing black sweatshirts, black ski masks and black gloves with white markings on them. After receiving the gas, they drove off without paying.”
Later, the Jackson Police Department reported a burglary of a vehicle in the Royal Grove neighborhood of town.
“At 8:58 am, Police Officer Lou Notare responded to a residence located on Imperial Place on the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle which took place earlier in the morning,” Laskiewicz reported. “The victim reported that his 2022 Mercedes Benz which was parked in the driveway had been entered and multiple items of property had been stolen. It was reported that in addition to approximately $7,000.00 in cash which had been left in the vehicle, a Fendi business backpack, Microsoft laptop, I-Phone, Apple Air Pods, and a debit card had been stolen. Approximately 2 hours earlier the victim had been alerted by his bank that there had been an attempted withdrawal from his account.”
Police said the the victim reported that the vehicle had been locked and there were no signs of forced entry. Security video from the victim’s and other neighbors’ homes showed a blue vehicle driving through the neighborhood.
“A male was observed going to the victim’s vehicle before returning to the suspect vehicle, which then fled the area. At this time there were no other reported burglaries in this neighborhood.At 10:00 a.m., Police Officer Kenneth Egan took a report of an attempted motor vehicle theft from a resident of Denton Lane.
“The victim woke in the morning to discover his 2019 Genesis parked at the end of his driveway, which was not where it had been parked. He reviewed a dash camera inside the vehicle which he found had been knocked onto the seat and observed that at approximately 4:30 am his car was being operated by an unknown subject,” Laskiewicz said. “A blue vehicle with no license plate was observed on the short video before the camera was disabled and his car abandoned. Nothing was reported stolen from the car and it was discovered that the key fob had been left inside the vehicle.”
