Man Ejected From Stolen Car During Fatal Crash in Columbia

COLUMBIA, MD – The Howard County Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision in Columbia early on May 12 in which one person was killed.

“At approximately 3:54 a.m., a 2019 Kia Optima was traveling west on Guilford Road at Lambeth Court when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree,” the agency reported today. “The driver and sole occupant, a male, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet identified the victim. “

Investigators determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of a neighboring jurisdiction.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Guilford Road in the area of Lambeth Court was closed for approximately two hours.
